VOLUNTEER WITH CLARK BAND

Looking to support Clark Band? Volunteering with the band is a deeply gratifying experience that offers a unique opportunity to play an active role in your student’s musical journey. As a volunteer, you'll contribute to creating a supportive and vibrant environment that enhances the band's performances and overall experience. Not only will you help facilitate exciting events and competitions, but you’ll also get to witness your student’s growth and achievements up close. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to meet other families and connect with the community. Come join us and share in the pride and joy of the Clark High School Band!

All Clark Band volunteers must complete the Plano ISD volunteer application, including a background check. If you are a Plano ISD employee, you are still required to complete the volunteer application. This step is required each school year. Applications for the upcoming school year are available beginning July 1st. Watch your email for approval prior to any volunteering. Thank you!

Complete PISD Volunteer Application

After completing the PISD Volunteer Application, you are welcome to sign up to volunteer! Curious where your talents are a great match? Check out the volunteer opportunities below. This is not an exhaustive list but should give an idea of where we need the most support from parents and volunteers throughout the year.

Please also take a look at the Booster Club page for vacant Board Member positions. Email Booster President Sally Pylant with any questions.

VOLUNTEER AREAS

PRE-GAME / CONTEST MEAL SERVICE

Our Hospitality Chairs manage meal service for the band, directors, and PISD bus/truck drivers. Meals from a local restaurant are picked up by a volunteer and the Booster Treasurer at around 3:45 PM. Additionally, a volunteer handles purchasing snacks like fruit, cookies, and chips from Sam's Club during the game week. Volunteers set up the serving line in the CHS cafeteria, ensuring service starts at 4:30 PM, assisting students during the meal, and reminding them of their meal times and to clean up. Directors and drivers also receive assistance with their meals. Cleanup is usually completed by 5:30 PM.

FOOTBALL GAME / MARCHING CONTEST CHAPERONES

Our VPs of Chaperones coordinate a dynamic role where you support the Clark Band and Colorguard up close! Chaperones enjoy free transport, and game entries, and assist the band directly. Responsibilities include helping students with uniforms, managing attendance for bus trips, and communicating via group text with directors and other chaperones. Each chaperone may be responsible for basic first aid and helping with costume adjustments like placing and removing plumes. During performances, chaperones organize and distribute musical accessories, provide cooling towels on hot days, and supervise restroom breaks to ensure safety and timeliness. Typically, two chaperones are assigned per bus.

EQUIPMENT CREW / PERCUSSION VOLUNTEERS

Support the band by helping students load and unload equipment, instruments, and props, and assist in moving these onto the field for games and contests, providing a close-up view of performances.

CLUSTER EXHIBITION AT CLARK STADIUM

Help students get ready to leave school! General chaperone duties for uniforms and bus transportation as listed above for FOOTBALL GAME duties. Depending on the schedule, this event may require meal service.

CAT CHOW

Cat Chow, hosted by the Clark PTSA each Fall and Spring, is a schoolwide event supporting the PTSA, Administration, and Booster Clubs. During this event, students enjoy an extended outdoor lunch on the west grass field, where they can buy food from local restaurants under large pop-up tents provided by participating Booster Clubs. Each club contributes about six volunteers to sell food. Tickets are available for purchase in advance or at the event.

ALL-REGION CONTEST AT CLARK (FRESHMEN)

Our VPs of Chaperones coordinate key tasks including the ordering and setup of judge’s meals for delivery between 4:00-4:15 PM, which are set up in the 2nd floor Library. Boosters supply snacks and pizza for the student volunteer room. We need volunteers for hall monitoring, contest room monitoring, assisting judges and students, managing concessions, and setting up and tearing down contest rooms, involving chairs, music stands, and dividers. Volunteer shifts are available for these roles.

PLANO HOLIDAY PARADE

Help students prepare to leave school and manage general duties for uniforms and bus transportation. Accompany the Clark Band along parade routes, where volunteers are encouraged to wear festive attire and may distribute candy to spectators.

PASTA CONCERTO & SILENT AUCTION

Our VP of Events leads the organization of our annual Italian dinner and concert fundraiser, traditionally hosting around 1,000 guests. This event requires extensive planning and numerous volunteers. Opportunities include planning the silent auction, soliciting donations, preparing auction items, managing the auction website, setting up tables, distributing flyers, acquiring beverage donations, grocery shopping, cooking, serving, decorating, handling ticket and spirit wear sales, and more. Volunteer roles are available in shifts to accommodate varying availability. Your participation in this event is crucial to our success!

BAND BANQUET

Our VP of Events manages a special banquet that celebrates our students, directors, and outstanding volunteer parents, highlighting the year's achievements with the Clark Band. Volunteers are needed to set up, decorate, and clean the event space in the Clark cafeteria, organize the food serving area, and solicit beverage donations.
